Ama Dablam means “Mother Necklace”.
Ama means the mother in the Nepali language. The long rides on both sides represent the arms of the mother. The popular hanging glacier below the summit represents the pendant of traditional Tibetan jewelry which is called Dablam. About 400 years when Tibetan migrate to Nepal then after that all started. The necklaces are mostly worn by the women from Sherpa community. The Buddhist people decide Ama Dablam was one of their major holiest mountains in the Khumbu region. Sherpa people are also the most powerful and strong people from the mountains which they think is a privilege. The unique profile of Ama Dablam dominates the entire Khumbu.
