Mardi Himal Trek throughout the year has been attracting people by its beauty, no matter how slippery and harsh the trail is. This trek is a hidden gem that is situated on the east of another popular Annapurna Base Camp Trek. ABC Trek is also a legendary trekking destination in Nepal. It is a high-altitude trek that passes through remote traditional villages and gives you majestic views of several peaks in the Annapurna range. Since Mardi Himal base camp trekking is fairly new, one can see very few trekkers along the way.

The Mardi Himal base camp trek is popular with fewer people. Many numbers of trekkers do this trek with a tent for a Long time. The trek is on the east of the legendary trekking destinations of Nepal. Trek to Mardi base camp follows the beaten trail of Shepherds. The trek route was officially opened in 2012.

The Mardi Himal base camp Trek is a good alternative to escape from the crowded trekking of Annapurna. The trek provides stunning views like Ghorepani poon hill trek and it's possible on around the same trekking days. It is clean fresh as well as outstanding views of the Annapurna ranges.

Mardi Himal Trek is slowly getting popular not only because of its beauty but because this is one of the shortest treks with less crowded and untouched serenity around in comparison to much other trekking. The unusual and interesting trail wanders through glacial valleys, mystical scenery, sparkling rivers, and lush green terraced fields. The trek starts from Pokhara and goes through Kande, Deurali, Low Camp, and High Camp and to Mardi Base Camp.

Essential Information

Blankets, Hot shower & WIFI on Mardi Himal Trek

If you go on a peak season also we recommend carrying a Sleeping bag. Our magic Himalaya Treks give the Sleeping bag for our guests. We give sleeping bags and duffel bags to use during the journey which you have to return after the journey is finished. The tea houses on the lower corridor of the journey provide enough robes and the temperature isn't that cold compared to High Camp and Badal Danda. On advanced elevations also we can get enough blankets but eventually not enough.

A hot shower in the room is available on the lower corridor of the trail but it’s hard to find out a good shower on trial. Some teahouses have problems with water so it’s better to carry baby wipes and clean our bodies. This is the recommended idea. WIFI is available in most places of the trail lodges and may charge you for headdresses. Some of the tea houses on the lower corridor of the trail will give free. For this, you need to communicate with your trek organizer. You can also take Ncell or NTC Data pack which works well on journey route

Mardi Himal Trek possible routes

There are different routes to mardi himal and some of the best routes that people follow are discussed below:

Starting in Kande & finishing in Siding Villages

The normal Mardi Himal treks starts in Kande and end in siding village. This route is also known as a standard route which is mostly followed by people coming from Kathmandu & Pokhara. The main route starts at Kanda where we reach by drive from Pokhara. We will walk towards the Australian camp the Pothana & Deurali to reach the forest camp. After here single way to high camp and Mardi then back to low camp. From low camp, we take different routes to finish the trek. We will finish walking in siding which is the best option. We can easily get a jeep from Siding to Pokhara.

Starting in Ghandruk/ Kyumi & Finished in Siding

Some people like to do the Mardi Himal trek after completing poon hill or ABC. People can start the Mardi route from Ghandruk or Kyumi Village. We can drive from Pokhara to Ghandruk or Kyumi to start the trek. From there the route goes to Landruk and climbs to forest camp. Like others, the ending is in Siding village where we can get a jeep and bus to go to Pokhara.

Starting in Landruk & Finish at Siding

This is the shortest option for the Mardi Himal route. Driving straight to Landruk from Pokhara is possible either by jeep or bus. While driving straight we need to have a rest day or an acclimatization rest day somewhere on the trek either in Badal Danda or low camp. Drive from Pokhara to Landruk last pat is so bad most of the people prefer walking rather than taking the bus.

Starting in Ghandruk & ending at Kande

This is one of the nice trails where you start your journey on Ghandruk village. You reach Ghandruk by walking or driving from Nayapul. From Ghandruk trek down to Kyumi then cross bride to climb Landruk village. From there we also need to climb again to reach Forest Camp then follow the same route to Badal Danda and High Camp. On the way back we will come to forest camp instead of going siding from low camp. From the forest camp, we will pass Deurali, Pothana, and Australian camp. We will end in Kanda and then drive back to Pokhara.

Trekking permits for Mardi Himal Trek

For doing any treks inside the National parks and conservation area we need to obtain trekking permits. We also need Trekking permits for Mardi Himal Trek which we can get from the Tourism Information Center. We have a tourist information center in the tourism board which is in Kathmandu As well as Pokhara.

To get TIMs card and permits the trekking company needs a passport, passport size photo, and insurance policy (insurance is not Compulsory)

4th: Get the TIMS card and come back office

5th: Fill in all details with the company stamp and details. TIMS is checked on different counters on the route.

Accommodations on Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal route substantially goes through the original townlets. From Kande, we go to an Australian camp for lunch. They have a good dining room. In case you need to stay the night then they have got a good room with an Attached restroom.

From then we will substantially go to Deurali which also has a good attached room with toilets. The lodgment on timber camp and low camp are introductory too. There are many good lodges in Badal Danda but they've water problems and they need to depend on rainwater. In high camp, they've some good apartments. So the lodgment on Mardi Himal is relatively okay.

If you want to know about magic Himalayan treks accommodation in Kathmandu & Pokhara It’s customizable on your request. Most of the time we used the hostel Thamel Park on Kailash Kutee in Kathmandu. In Pokhara, we used Hotel Splendid View or similar levels.

Electricity & Charging Facilities on Mardi Himal trek

On the lower corridor of the journey, they have an electricity installation where you can have a charging draw in the room or in the dining. Then they don't charge you for the battery charging and mobile charging. When you go higher they use solar panels to charge phones and for lights.

For Charging they bring you 300 to 500 for full charging. utmost of the people they carry power bank so that they don’t have to pay for charging in advanced elevations. Eventually, due to the cold, the power bank doesn't last for long ages of time.

Some people also carry solar panels so that they can charge all their accessories during the time when there's sun. Spending on solar panel and power bank definitively bring you lots of plutocrat but you can use those particulars for another passage or in dial use too.

Insurance for Trekking Mardi Himal base camp of Nepal

Insurance is always an important thing to have while traveling to any place. Mardi Himal trek highest point the upper viewpoint which is on high elevations. So insurance is very important to carry. The best insurance policy will cover everything if there are any accidents or other altitude-related illness. We need the insurance that will cover for hiking up to an altitude of 6,000 meters.

The insurance will not cover high elevations coverage so it is important to buy a proper insurance policy. The insurance which covers delays, accidents, and high altitude-related problems is the best one. While buying insurance we need to make clear about the thing which is covered and what not cover is. Don’t forget to add hiking up to 6000 meters as an additional activity. JS Insurance and world Nomads are the Insurance Company that provides Insurance for Mardi trek.

Insurance is highly recommended for solo travelers as well as group travelers.

Mardi Himal Trekking season Possibilities

These activities and weather make this Mardi Himal trekking beautiful and successful.

December-January-February

This month is the cold time but generally has clear skies. Trekking Mardi Himal this time is a very beautiful time to discover this area. We will see only a few trekkers on the trail. The nights are colder in comparison to other months but the environment is fresh and beautiful. We recommend doing this trekking on these months too.

June-July-August

These months are known as Manson season in Nepal so Travel in Manson months is not good enough for hiking. There we can see lots of grassy landscapes and can get leeches in lower elevations. It is not the best idea to trek in months of Monsoon time. Still, many people do Mardi Himal trek on this months. We need to be careful while doing a trek because we have to walk on the ride and definitively slippery.

Yoga possibility in Mardi trek

Mardi Trek has a huge possibility for yoga. This beautiful Mardi Himal trek is a mixture of yoga, nature and majestic views of Himalayas. Each morning will be started with yoga and meditation with a breathtaking view of Himalayas, then we walk through a lush forest of rhododendron Schima, Wallichii and chestnut trees. Food on Mardi Himal

Food during all Trekking in Nepal is mostly typical. We can get all typical dishes from Nepal, India, China and western countries. Dalbhat which have rice, lentil soup, Chapatti, grilled vegetables & spinach is one of the best choice for many trekkers. Dalbhat is the best value for money because we can refill the meal until you become full of Stomach? Dalbhat is the first choice for hungry trekkers.

The Mardi Himal food menu is Similar to food on the Everest base camp trek or any other trek in Nepal. The menu has international dishes such as Spaghetti, Pizza, Burger, Sandwiches, and many more. Finding something green and fresh is what most trekkers want during those treks. Most of the food items are stored for long periods of time which might bring different problems. Avoids eating meats and dairy products because they are haphazardly carried by donkeys or people from lower parts and they cause food poison for many people.

The Meal is provided three times a day during the trek at Tea houses which offer local food such as Dal Bhat, and Tarkari (vegetables) which cost between $2- $4. You may also get noodles, fried rice, dumplings, and some more local as well as continental food.
