The best time of year to visit
The best time to visit Manaslu Trekking is March, April, May, September, October, November, and December. Mostly June, July, August, January, and February are the off-seasons for this trek. Lodges in Larke Phedi and Bimthang will be closed. Heavy snow is also a reason for lodges to close.
Government Rules for Manaslu Permits:
The Manaslu region comes under a restricted area from the Nepal government. You need specific types of paperwork to gain entry into this area. Here below is a point that needs to be noted before visiting this area:
Manaslu treks The cost is USD 70 per person for the first week and USD 10 per day for each additional day during peak season. During the off-peak season, the cost will decrease to USD 50 for the first week and USD 7 per day for any additional days.
Government rules of having at least 2 people for issuing permits:
If you are alone, it seems difficult because the government applies the rules of two people for issuing permits, which makes you require a group or at least one other trekking partner on the same entry date. You must enter the area together, but after that, checking out separately is allowed.
MCAP and ACAP for Manaslu trek permit cost
New revised entry fees are as follows:
Nepali nations: NPR 100
SAARCE Nations: NPR 1000
NON-SAARCE nations: NPR 3000
All the above permit fees are inclusive of applicable government taxes. The permit fee is not applicable to children under the age of 10.
No TIMS Card Required:
The TIMS card is required for most of the trekking region except restricted areas and climbing. So instead of a TIMS card, you can show restricted area permits and climbing permits at the TIMS checkpost. If you plan to continue the Annapurna Circuit trek and the Jomsom Muktinath trek after Manaslu, then you need this permit card.
Tsum Valley permits:
If you also want to visit Tsum Valley, you need to pay an additional USD 35 to obtain the Tsum Valley permits for 8 days from September to November. From December to August, it cost USD 25 for 8 days.
4 passport-sized photographs are required while applying for the Manaslu entry permits.
