Trekking in the Himalayas and Everest base camp, in general, represents the trek staying in a teahouse. Teahouses on the Everest base camp trek are serving trekkers for long periods of time. Before the teahouses trek, there used to be camping and tenting treks with many staff and many more expenses.
With the introduction of the teahouse on Everest base camp trek, the treks are cheaper and affordable to many people which increases the number of visitors to Nepal and Everest base camp.
Due to the overflow of people in Everest, the teahouses on the Everest base camp trek also increased in many numbers. Food on the Everest base camp trek is provided by such a tea house. We will change the teahouse on walking a day from one village to another.
The per-day walking is normally 5-7 hours ad a few days it’s up to 10 hours. We can identify teahouse by different signs and writing just outside buildings or in the entrance gate and doors. They promote selling tea and coffee, Rooms, Wi-Fi, Hot showers as well as Electricity.
All typical teahouses provide the basic amenities for a comfortable stay. A tea house provides single beds, double beds, dining for eating, shower as well as electricity. We highly recommend the teahouse trekking in Nepal.
Everest base camp trek teahouse Facilities
Facilities such as showers and toilets and dining room
There are different levels of teahouses in the Everest trekking trail so the facilities of toilets and showers are also different from one level to another. Here are some of the finest tea houses with inside toilets and showers. In some places when we go higher land the teahouse has outside toilets which are basic and only a bucket shower is available. From luxury to normal all kinds of hotels and facilities are available on Everest base camp trek trails. We can also get a luxury 5-star category hotel in some parts of the trails which is known as Everest summit lodge, Yeti mountain home as well as Everest view hotel.
There is also a lower category lodge which is 3-star categories which are Hotel Namche, Himalaya Hotel in Pheriche, and many more. As we go higher elevations the cost also raises high for similar service teahouses. The price for food and water also raises high with the rise of elevations.
The teahouse has a dining room where people can eat. It is the place where all the trekkers in the teahouse gather together chat and eat. Here they also have a heater that generates heat from cow dong and yak dong. The cost for the teahouse is USD $3 to USD $30. If you are trekking with our company magic Himalaya Treks we have included teahouse accommodations in our service and we will provide a nice one for your comfort.
Facilities such as Room, Wi-Fi & Electricity
The rooms are normally available for two people. A room has two beds separated by a table. There will be two pillows, bed sheets, and bed covers but it is highly recommended to use a sleeping bag as well as a pillow liner for hygiene purposes. The walls between rooms are made from wood and thin so, it is also recommended to bring earplugs for a good night’s sleep.
Most teahouses have electricity for lights in rooms and dining. The charging point is mostly on the counter where you can do charging by paying some amount. Wi-Fi and internet are also available with paying an extra amount.
