Lower Dolpa Trek is in the remote western part of Nepal. This lower Dolpa trek offers outstanding trekking experiences. Trekker in this region opens in 1982 for foreigners. Since then, trekking in this region is very popular as well as start visiting. The isolated in the lower Dolpa region follows the local trail. The trail is used by local people in Phoksundo national park. The people living here are Tibetan-origin Bon Pro as well as Buddhists. Lower Dolpa treks have their own charm among visitors. The trek follows the trail of the protected areas.

Lower Dolpa Trek permits

Trekkers can trek freely in many parts of Nepal.  There are people just Buying TIMS cards and then starting to trek individually or in a group. Fit Trekkers are what they are called. The restricted area is few and regulated by Nepal Government. FIT people are not allowed in such an area. Dolpa is also regulated by the government. To Trek Lower Dolpa it cost USD 10 per week. The government-registered agency needs to get permits before the trek starts. To enter shey-Phaksundo national park it cost USD 30 as well as Plus 13% Vat for Foreigners. For SAARCE it cost 10 USD as well as plus 13% VAT. It will also cost Rs 25 for crew Members.

Three High Passes in Dolpa Trek

The trek passes over the three high passes. Kangmara pass is the first pass. It is on an elevation of 5115 meters. Numa La pass is the second pass. It is on an elevation of 5159 meters. Baga La pass is third as well as the highest pass. Baga la pass is on a height of 5190 meters. This one is the highest among the three passes.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu Airport (1400 m)

Day 2: fly to Nepalgjung

Day 3: Fly to Jhupal (2320 m) and trek to Dunai (2850 m) – 3 hr walk

Day 4: Trek to Tarakot (2543 m) – 6 hr walk.

Day 5: Trek to Laine (3170 m) -6 hours walk.

Day 6: Trek to Nawarpani (3545 m) – 7 hours walk.

Day 7: Trek to Do Tarap (4090 m) – 8 Hour walk

Day 8: Acclimatization day in Do Tarap

Day 9: Trek to Numa la Base camp (4440 meters) – 7-hour walk

Day 10: Cross Numa La pass (5159 m) and camp at Pelung tang (4465 m) -7 hour

Day 11: Cross bega la (5190 m) and camp at Dajok Tang (4080 m) – 7-hour walk

Day 12: Trek to Ringmo (3600 m)- 4-hour walk

Day 13: rest day at Ringmo and trek Phoksundo Lake

Day 14: Trek to Shyanta (2520 m) – 6-hour walk.

Day 15: Trek to Jhupal – 6-hour walk

Day 16: Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, we will pick and transfer to the hotel in Thamel. Evening visit office where we will brief you more details of the trek. We will have dinner together.

(Note: Due to camping trek all Food, tenting accommodation is included. In Kathmandu Hotel on BB plan and welcome and farewell dinner included)

Our guide will pick you from the hotel and take you to Kathmandu airport domestic terminal. The 1-hour flight will take you a beautiful laces western side. We will stay the night in this place.

After Breakfast, we will catch another flight to Jhupal. It is 45 minutes flight with a scenic view of the mountains. We will walk 3 hours to reach Dunai where we stay the night.

Today’s walk is 6 hours to reach Tarakot village. It lies on an elevation of 2543 meters. We will pass many villages as well as pine forests and rivers. We will stay at night in this village.

Today’s trail goes through terraced farms and villages. We need to cross suspension bridges and cross rivers. We will stay laine for the night.

Today walk starts Passing Rivers and village. Today walk is different because of walking narrow trail and the trail is not fixed. We have to make our own trail to reach Nawarpani. We will stay here for the night.

Today walk stars with gradual up. Walking 8 hours we will reach Tarap. It is the place with Magars and a few Tibetans. We will stay overnight here.

Acclimatization means rest day. But today instead of staying ideal we will walk around the places to acclimatize. We will have a good rest and ready for the next day.

Our journeys go towards Numa la base camp. We will walk 7 hours to reach Numa la base camp. We will pass Tokyo village on the way. Stay in Numa la base camp.

Today we will cross the pass called Numa la pass. It is on an elevation of 5159 meters. We will make camp on Pelung Teng for stay.

Today we will cross another pass know as Bega la pass. It is on the elevation of 5190 meters. We will camp at Dajok tang to stay overnight.

The morning starts with a steep climb to reach the ridge top of Bega la which offers a fantastic view of the mountains. We will stay night in Ringmo village.

We will visit the monastery around the village. During rest day instead of staying ideal, we will hike Phoksundo Lake. Stay the night in Ringmo.

Today we will walk downwards after having breakfast. Passing lovely villages we will reach Shyanta where we will stay.

Today we will trek from Shyanta to Jhupal. We will pass the village with few houses to each Jhupal whwre will stay night.

Today we will take an early flight to Jhupal and then flu Kathmandu in the evening.

Today, We will visit Kathmandu valleys as a sightseeing tour. We will have plenty of time to do shopping and farewell dinner in the evening.

Today is the final day in Nepal we will drop you to the airport for international departure. On a way back home you will have plenty of time to remember memories about the trek and think about the next adventure in Nepal.
